Vendor-Managed Inventory  
As a means of optimizing Supply Chain Management, Schreiber Foods implemented Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) in 1993. With VMI, we’re more focused than ever in providing great customer service.

In the VMI partnership, our customers supply us with electronic data, including on-hand balances, warehouse pulls, receipts and lists of out-of-stock items. Schreiber Foods then plans the replenishment orders and sends the orders electronically to our customers. With VMI, Schreiber can see the potential need for an item before the item is ordered. To our customers, this means:

  • Increased service levels to the stores
  • Decreased inventory levels
  • Shortened lead times
  • Reduced replenishment cycle times
  • Maximized truck cube and weight

Most importantly, VMI ensures Schreiber has the correct item in stock when the customer needs it.
