PAULUCCI FAMILY PURCHASES ANOTHER COMPANY


Arden International Kitchens, Lakeville, MN, Will Continue Independent Operation

GREEN BAY, WI, May 8, 2002 -- Entrepreneur Jeno F. Paulucci today announced purchase of yet another foods company - Arden International Kitchens of Lakeville, MN - which will be a separate entity from the other Paulucci companies, but will produce products for them.

Arden International Kitchens was purchased by the Paulucci family from Schreiber Foods, Inc. Terms of the cash transaction were not disclosed.

Arden International Kitchens packs frozen products for restaurant chains and also produces private label lasagna, stromboli and other frozen products for certain chain stores. This acquisition gives the Paulucci companies both new products and new access to the expansive food service industry.

Arden employs about 100 persons in Lakeville in a very modern plant of 100,000 square feet on more than five acres of land using the latest state-of-the-art production equipment. Schreiber bought the business in November, 1994.

"Arden also will now supply Luigino's, Inc., with special products for its expanding Michelina's® and Budget Gourmet® lines of frozen entrees and snacks," Paulucci said, "and will add new products for our Self Serve Foods, Inc., company that supplies vending machine operators plus products for convenience stores and club stores, soon on a global basis."

"Fortunately for us," Paulucci noted, " Schreiber Foods, Inc. felt that these facilities didn't fit their present type of business, mainly cheese production and the marketing of it."

Arden has been operating only at about 45 per cent of its fifty million pounds annual capacity, Paulucci added, "so there's plenty of additional capacity to fulfill our expanding needs." Luigino's, Inc., will have a management contract to operate and market Arden products.

Now age 84, he launched Luigino's, Inc., in Duluth in 1990 at age 72. Today, one of every four frozen entrees sold in North America is a Michelina's® or Budget Gourmet® entree from Luigino's, Inc.

Now approaching some 12 years since Luigino's, Inc., was established, and with the recent development of Self Serve Foods, Inc., the addition of Arden Kitchens International combines three food companies with Jeno F. Paulucci as Chairman and Ron Bubar as President and Chief Executive Officer which cover all aspects of food needs, occasions and distribution on a global basis in keeping with its slogan, "On the plate or on the go."
